Biography
Lyndon Jones graduated in Optometry from the University of Wales, Cardiff, in 1985 and gained his PhD from the Biomaterials Research Unit at Aston University, Birmingham, UK in 1998. He holds three of the higher clinical awards granted by the College of Optometrists, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, in which he is a Diplomate in Cornea and Contact Lenses, and is also a Fellow of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE). He is the current Chair of the Research Committee of the American Academy of Optometry, a Topical Editor for Optometry & Vision Science and a founding member of the Ocular Surface Society of Optometry.
He has been the recipient of a number of awards, including the 2006 American Optometric Foundation’s “Michael Harris Award for Excellence in Optometric Education”, 2005 University of Waterloo’s “Distinguished Teacher Award”, 2002 BCLA “Irving Fatt Memorial Lecture”, 2001 BCLA “Dallos Award” and the 1999 German Contact Lens Society’s “Peter Abel Award”. He has authored over 170 refereed and professional papers, one text-book and given over 500 invited lectures at conferences worldwide, in over 30 countries.
