From Thom Freddo:
It is my distinct pleasure to announce that Dr. Jake Sivak will be receiving the honour of becoming a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Waterloo in recognition of his outstanding teaching and research career, as well as his leadership and contribution to the advancement of optometric education at the School of Optometry. Jake retired last June after 41 years of dedicated service and remarkable achievements. He has touched the lives of many in the optometric community and continues to do so as he carries on with his successful research endeavours here at the School.
As the longest serving Director, Jake has served this university and the School of Optometry in an exemplary and outstanding manor and we feel that this honorary degree is more than well deserved. It is wonderful that we can add this high distinction to Jake’s long list of honours lately which include receiving the OAO's Cobean Award and the American Academy's Prentice Medal, the two highest forms of recognition these organizations have.
